Bulletin Updates

  • Benevolence is one not only for us, but helps to support others in their work. A locking mail box has been installed for your convenience to drop off envelopes during this time. Please continue to give.
  • The Covid Outreach Committee continues to do good work in the community including assembling hygiene kits. Please help us do God’s work by donating. Enclose your donation in a marked envelope for “Covid 19 donation” and mail to the church or put in our new locked mailbox at the church. Hygiene supplies can be left on the main porch. Thank you.

Get Involved with Advent!

The lighting of the Advent Candle is on opportunity for church member involvement in the Advent Services.   We would like to have a different person for each service if possible. The first lighting would be Saturday, November 27 and Sunday November 28th, Saturday December 4 and Sunday December 5th, Saturday December 11 and Sunday December 12th, Saturday December 18th and Sunday Dec 19th. If you would be interested in doing this for St James, we can go over the procedure ahead of time for you.  You can contact the church office by phone 908-454-2864 or email strawchurch.org if you are interested and we can schedule a date.

Church Constitution Update

St. James is working towards revising its church constitution in line with the latest guidance from the ELCA.   Following our 2021 congregation meeting, our proposed constitution is now with Synod for review.  Our intention is to have a final vote on the constitution at the 2022 congregation meeting.  Click the link below to review the latest version.
